Meet the Team
Gilkicker Builders Ltd.
Construction services

Gilkicker Builders Ltd was established in August 2022 following the acquisition of the iconic Fort Gilkicker, a site that has long been left derelict despite the efforts of larger national organizations. Backed by a brother-led team with extensive experience in successful developments across Hampshire, the company has achieved remarkable progress in a short period, demonstrating their commitment to quality and vision.

As proud locals, the founders share a deep connection to the area. Passionate sailors and golfers themselves, they understand the lifestyle and aspirations of the Fort’s future residents. Their familiarity with the unique charm and heritage of the site fuels their dedication to preserving its historical essence while transforming it into a vibrant community.

This project is not just another development—it's a labor of love. The team envisions a harmonious blend of locals and new tenants, particularly those who appreciate the Fort’s maritime heritage and stunning coastal setting. Gilkicker Builders Ltd is committed to creating a sustainable, welcoming space where heritage, modern living, and a love for the sea converge.

Join us in breathing new life into Fort Gilkicker and securing your place in this extraordinary piece of history.

Heritage conservation and architectural services
DBP lead the way in regenerative design and conservation architecture through the creation of engaging, sustainable and responsive spaces. Regularly collaborating with diverse designers, consultants and stakeholders, we seek to craft spaces that meaningfully resonate with users through storytelling and community building.

Key projects, like the RIBA award-winning conversion of Spitbank Fort, the popular arts hub at the Hotwalls Studios, and our initiative to bring creative industries to the vacant spaces at Fort Cumberland, highlight our dedication to cultural and social impact. More than an architectural practice, our desire to invest in communities through conservation, sustainability, and skills development led to our instrumental role in founding the not-for-profit Sustainable Conservation Trust.
Ultimately our work seeks to leave a lasting legacy that enriches culture, empowers communities and preserves heritage.
Since 1984, the Palmerston Forts Society has brought together enthusiasts with a keen interest in nineteenth-century military fortifications and associated artillery. PFS is committed to educating the public about Fort Nelson and Victorian fortifications while supporting their improvement for the benefit of the community. This society is particularly concerned with the fortifications across the UK and abroad built in response to invasion fears in the 1850s and initiated by Prime Minister Lord Palmerston and the resulting extensive fortification programme, including the ring of forts that protected Portsmouth.
Through their efforts, they help to ensure that these impressive fortifications do not undergo neglect or destruction due to development and that the public is made aware of their remarkable history.
